Poverty-Environment Partnership (PEP)

Poverty and Environment Partnership (150*45)The Poverty-Environment Partnership (PEP)  is an informal network of donor agencies, development banks, and NGOs.  The main common interest among its participants is enhanced environmental management in the context of poverty reduction.  Founded in 2001, it pursues the following objectives:

  • Enhanced knowledge management with respect to environmental management linked to poverty reduction
  • Joint conceptual and analytical work, resulting in a series of inter-agency papers
  • Collaborative communication, advocacy, and policy dialogue on poverty and environment
  • Facilitation of coordinated poverty-environment work in developing countries

There is no formal membership in PEP.  Participants carry their own costs for participation.  PEP has no bylaws, officers, or budget.  Hosting of meetings—held approximately every six months—is on a rotational basis.

For more detailed information, and postings of the inter-agency papers produced so far, please refer to www.povertyenvironment.net/pep/.
