The scope of the Energy Sector at the World Bank is outlined in the Bank’s Energy Program web site.  It includes access to clean, modern and affordable energy services for the poor and sustainability in the environmental, financial, and fiscal aspects of clients' energy sectors.  The Bank's Oil, Gas, Mining and Chemicals Department covers areas such as mining and environment, small-scale mining, mine closure, and mining and community. The Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), a partnership between the Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) helps build consensus and provides policy advice on sustainable energy development to governments of developing countries and economies in transition.
The linkage between the Energy Sector and the environment includes impacts of extractive industries, health concerns (i.e., air pollution from energy generation), and natural resources depletion from the use of traditional fuel. SEAs for the energy sector are typically known as Energy and Environment Reviews.   Please note that the World Bank does not endorse external sites.  General Documents and Links   Environmental Assessment Guidelines Rapid Environmental Assessment Checklists (Asian
