Seoul Workshop

The workshop on "Mitigation Action and the role of market instruments – bridging readiness gaps", organized by the World Bank and the Ministry of Knowledge Economy of the Republic of Korea, took place on March 9 and 10 in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The workshop brought together policy makers and experts from both developing and developed countries (see the list of the participants). The workshop provided a forum for countries and experts to:

  • Provide their perspectives on their approach to pursuing climate change mitigation actions and what role, if any, market instruments may play in supporting such actions;
  • Share experience and discusschallenges in establishing the core components of market systems; and
  • Identify the capacity building needs and appropriate sources of implementation support for countries wishing to use market instruments.
