Kseniya Lvovsky (Lead Environmental Economist and Program Leader) is leading the Climate Change Team in the Environment Department and is responsible for the coordination of climate-change-related activities across the Sustainable Development Network and the preparation of the World Bank Group Strategic Framework on Climate Change and Development. Ian Noble (Sr. Climate Change Specialist) focuses on impacts and adaptation to climate change especially in land-use, biodiversity, forestry and agriculture. He provides support for GEF activities.
Astrid Hillers (Sr. Environmental Specialist) focuses on adaptation to climate change. Providing cross-support to programs and projects aiming at decreasing vulnerability in river basins, and in sustainable land management, natural resources and environmental management. Support to the GEF on adaptation projects. Sergio Margulis (Lead Environmental Economist) is leading a global study on the economics of adaptation to climate change, in partnership with the Governments of the Netherlands and the UK. Also in partnership with the British Government, he is taking the technical lead of a study on the economics of climate change in Brazil, being carried out by Brazilian institutions. Muthukumara Mani (Sr. Environmental Economist)is a Senior Environmental Economist in the Policy and Economics Team. He works on both mitigation and adaptation issues with a particular focus on macro, fiscal and trade issues. He was the lead author of the recent Bank publication, "International Trade and Climate Change: Economic, Legal, and Institutional Perspectives." He also reviews environmental and climate aspects in all Bank Development Policy Lending (DPL) operations. Gretel Gambarelli (Environmental Specialist) is an NRM economist currently working on a guidance booklet for mainstreaming adaptation in project work, with particular focus on agriculture and NRM. Other fields of interest are the economics of adaptation at the project level and interactions between adaptation and Carbon Finance. Fareeha Iqbal (Consultant) is conducting assessments to monitor Bank-wide and external efforts in mainstreaming adaptation and is also involved in coordination and outreach work on adaptation. Michael Westphal (Consultant) is working on a screening tool that checks for potential climate risks to proposed development projects and provides information on climate projections to the development community. Philippe Ambrosi (Junior Professional Officer) is working on mitigation issues, notably in the field of carbon finance. He is also contributing to the assessment of the carbon footprint of World Bank projects as well as the development of financing instruments to address climate change. Gerardo Sanchez Martinez (Junior Professional Associate) is working on mitigation issues, including the development of a methodology for estimating the carbon footprint of World Bank projects and a co-benefits framework for climate change and air quality actions. Ana Bucher (Consultant) is working on climate change and adaptation issues -with a particular focus on agriculture and NRM components-. She is involved in the development of a screening tool for climate change risks and a guidance booklet for mainstreaming adaptation into development project work . Per Rydén (Consultant) is working on institutional issues and supports a field project in India on adapting farming systems and natural resource management to climate variability and change. Jonathan Padgham (Consultant) is developing a study on challenges and opportunities for implementing adaptation to climate change in agriculture. Suphachol Suphachalasai (Consultant) is working on the Low Carbon Growth country studies, particularly for India. He contributes to the development of the WBG climate change strategy and other flagship products of the team. He also helps facilitate linkages between mitigation and adaptation work. Laurent Cretegny (Consultant) is working on the economics of adaptation to climate change. In particular, he is leading the development of a working methodology relative to linking micro and macro level economic analyses. He is also supervising the implementation of bringing together these bottom-up and top-down approaches in country-specific case studies. Thi Trang Linh Phu (Consultant) is conducting analytical research on the economics of adaptation, with a particular focus on modeling the effects of adaptation to climate change, as well as assessing the impacts of adaptation to climate change in agriculture and health. She will also conduct country-specific analyzes and contribute to address cross-cutting issues related to uncertainties, extreme events, and social dimensions of adaptation.
