The proposed Climate Investment Funds (CIFs) are an important new source of interim funding through which the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) may provide additional grants and concessional financing to developing countries to address urgent climate change challenges. The documents dated April 28 and April 29, below, have been revised on the basis of discussions that were held during the second Design Meeting convened on April 14-15. Interested parties are invited to review these draft proposals and to provide written comments and proposals for revision by May 7, 2008. The revised documents will then be the basis of discussions to be held at the third Design Meeting to be convened on May 21-22 in Potsdam, Germany.
