For the design, implementation, and coordination of a set of projects to achieve global environmental objectives in a particular focal area, ten Operational Programs were set out in the GEF Operational Strategy that was adopted by the Council in October 1995.
Since then, four additional Operational Programs were added. All GEF projects must meet the technical eligibility criteria set forth in the Operational Programs to get GEF grants.
