Global Environmental Conventions

United Nations Conventions to address global environmental issues have been established for biodiversity, climate change, ozone depletion, and desertification issues (please see Global Conventions box on the right). These conventions guide GEF policies for project co-financing.

The Focal Areas page (left navigation menu) provides further information and links to different conventions and agreements related to the four GEF focal areas, land degradation, and persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Links to the relevant convention secretariats' websites are presented on the right box of each focal area page.
