The objectives of this initiative are to reduce reliance on Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and minimize economic impact of CFC phaseout on chiller sector and Improve energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. Some characteristics in Thailand are non-grant financing, cooperation of all stakeholders, financing by two global environmental funds. Features in Mexico are the leveraging of Multilateral Fund grants through on-lending Government co-financing and the use of commercial lending framework.
The result is removal of market barriers for adoption of environmentally-friendly technologies, elimination of over 500 tons Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) and reduction of over 1500 KtC equivalent and lower investment in energy infrastructure.
