Key Themes

Resources from World Bank and partner organizations have been gathered on themes which shape the discussion of land. Currently featured themes include:

Land Administration- Land administration systems are important as a basis for securing property rights and access to land as well as establishing the basis for the functioning of land and other factor markets.

 Moroccan fields
Land Markets- Markets are still perceived largely as institutions which, if not controlled by government intervention, tend to exacerbate land concentration and landlessness. However, markets can bring about productivity and equity enhancing transfers.

Land Reform- Efforts at land reform are often motivated more by political than by economic considerations and the record of implementation remains decidedly mixed.
