Land Administration Mini-Retreat

Land Administration Mini-Retreat

November 19-20, 2007

The World Bank

MC 2-800

The land administration and policy mini-retreat was organized to allow the World Bank’s land policy and administration thematic working group to have open and future looking discussions on land related initiatives, with its partners such as FAO, ILC, FIG, GLTN, IFAD and UNDP.

Objective of the retreat t was i) to share experiences across regions on what works and what does not at the operational level. Use this to articulate key challenges faced in individual regions and to identify ways in which follow up work with partners can help in identifying ways to address these; ii) to take stock of ongoing impact evaluations in the area of land and property rights and identify promising operations in individual regions that could form the basis for a cluster of evaluations; iii) to review the substance of past and planned future work on good governance in land administration by development partners to ensure that this work addresses key questions and will be effective in influencing policy and iv) to discuss on how to collaborate with partners in a range of areas of common interest.

Key conclusions and next steps were discussed in the six working groups. Individual presentations are attached.
