Investment opportunities

Investment opportunities sample listing (35 Kb PDF) | Resources

There is a wide variety of potential Ag/NRM investment opportunities within the CDD context. These opportunities generally relate to a community's natural resource endowments, productive activities, and ongoing commercialization endeavors.

Investments along the value chain are interdependent. For instance, investments in increasing yields will only result in increased farm income if there are corresponding investments in storage, processing, and marketing infrastructure. Similarly, the impact of increased yields will be short-lived if farmers do not apply sustainable agro-ecological practices. Therefore projects need to allow for complementary investments along the entire value chain.

This section provides a brief description of the role of the subsectors in the value chain. Examples of potential subproject investments are also provided. The resources in this section provide a portal into existing knowledge, guidelines, and good practices for a broad range of Ag/NRM investment opportunities. Information related to the three main spheres of activity along the value chain is linked on the left.
