Middle East and North Africa Region

Forests in the Middle East and North Africa (MNA) are scarce comprising only slightly more than 5% of the land area. These forested areas are, however, critical for watershed protection and landscape preservation. For this reason, it is critical that forests are thoroughly integrated in natural resources management and sustainable rural development as a whole.
