International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD): Leena Kirjavainen, who is involved in an ongoing IFAD project on agricultural markets, found the Markets Module very useful in integrating gender issues and gender-responsive actions in the actual design of the project. (August 2008) World Bank: The Land Module is being used to influence the design of land projects in Kosovo and West Bank and Gaza. (June-November 2008) UN Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW): Cheryl Morden (Director, North American Liaison Officer, IFAD) has been invited to talk about the Sourcebook and present key lessons learned and priorities set forth in the Sourcebook during International Day of Rural Women at the UN Headquarters in New York. (October 15, 2008) Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD4):Copies of the draft Modules on Rural Infrastructure, Land and Water were distributed during the Workshop on the “Role of Infrastructure in Women’s Economic Empowerment” during the TICAD4. There was a huge demand of the final printed copies of the Sourcebook. (May 28-30, 2008) Inter-American Development Bank (IADB): IADB Gender and Diversity Unit is planning on using the Sourcebook to developing a training module on rural productivity and infrastructure for IADB staff. (meeting held on September 24, 3008) Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (DANIDA):DANIDA is planning on using the Sourcebook in strengthening the integration of women and smallholders in their agriculture and rural development work. (meeting held on September 24, 2008) Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA): Lynn Brown (Rural Development Specialist, World Bank) has been invited to speak about the Sourcebook and the gender dimensions of the food crisis with CIDA’s gender team. (November 2008) Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF): Gates is interested in using the Sourcebook. Gates’ representative will attend the Sourcebook launch and the International Conference on Gender in Agriculture to discuss the content and explore implementation strategies for the Sourcebook.
