The World Bank has made capacity enhancement a major area of focus and is working in new ways to help adapt global knowledge to local needs. Under the leadership of the World Bank Institute (WBI), the World Bank is:

  • Identifying successful practices, developing diagnostic tools, gathering resources and experts, fostering stakeholder dialogue, disseminating information, and identifying ways to improve the way capacity enhancement is done;
  • Embedding more capacity enhancement components in World Bank products and services;
  • Developing and utilizing new technologies and analytic and lending instruments to provide more effective support for capacity enhancement.
