The Youth 2 Youth Community (Y2Y) & The Latin America and the Caribbean Region (LAC) are pleased to announce the winners of the Youth Innovation Fund An Innovative Fund to Catalyze Youth-Led Development in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region The Youth 2 Youth Community (Y2Y) and the Latin America and the Caribbean Region (LCR) launched the third round of the Youth Innovation Fund in January 2008 to create opportunities for young professionals at the Bank to a) actively channel the collective ideas, knowledge and energy of young people inside and outside the World Bank Group into the institution as stakeholders in development, and b) build partnerships between these two groups to empower youth as catalysts for change. Y2Y and LCRVP would like to thank all of those who applied. The Selection Committee has chosen the following five proposals: Lusk-Stover/Walkinshaw: “Strategic Rural Information Partnerships for Education in Honduras” - Honduras Faller/Horst/Ortega: “Creating entrepreneurial capacity among young indigenous women in the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua” - Nicaragua Fernandez/Tejada: “Gender and domestic violence in DR: positive techniques for youth population” – Dominican Republic Herrera/Rojas: “Education on Rights for Colombian Internally Displaced Youth” – Colombia Lafuente/Paglayan: “Enhancing Young Entrepreneurship in Argentina by Leveraging its Diaspora” - Argentina
The Youth 2 Youth Community (Y2Y) and the Latin America and the Caribbean Region (LAC) launch the third round of the Youth Innovation Fund to create opportunities for young professionals at the Bank to (a) actively channel the collective ideas, knowledge and energy of young people inside and outside the World Bank Group into the institution as stakeholders in development, and (b) build partnerships between these two groups to empower youth as catalysts for change. In coordination with the LAC Vice Presidency, this Fund will be applicable to projects in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region. Y2Y and LAC encourage applications from all young staff (33 years of age or younger), including YPs, JPAs, ACS and consultants. An Information Seminar will be held on January 23rd at 1:00 pm in H1-200 to provide a forum for discussion on application procedures and answer questions from interested applicants. YIF seeks applications for projects targeted to impact and benefit youth in our client countries. Fund applications demonstrating the utilization of innovative approaches to project preparation, involving country participation, embracing cross-sectoral and cross-country activities and/or partnerships with local institutions will be given priority. The deadline to apply is Thursday, February 22nd, 2008 by 5:00 pm. Selection of successful proposals will be made by a Senior Selection Committee. Successful grant recipients will be awarded ten months to implement their projects. The outcomes of the projects will feed into future programs targeting youth, with the vision of institutionalizing the voice of youth in the development process. |
