Inclusive Growth Diagnostic Analysis: New Approaches to Determining Country Priorities

In 2007, a multi-donor Diagnostic Facility for Shared Growth (DFSG) was created to encourage more systematic analysis on growth-poverty-equity linkages at the country level and sharing of lessons across countries. The DFSG is supported by six donor agencies from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Providing support for country analytic work, the DFSG provided resources for country teams to utilize both existing and emerging methodological tools and techniques to better determine the constraints to inclusive growth within their country, which could ultimately lead to policies, arrangements, and institutional reforms for more inclusive growth. The Inclusive Growth Diagnostic Analysis Conference (September 28-29, 2011, Nairobi, Kenya) highlights the findings from this analysis. The sessions are intended to delve into the different approaches for inclusive growth analysis (both at the country and thematic level), to provide a framework for analyzing the constraints to more shared growth (or the potential for vehicles/policies to contribute to more inclusive growth), and to highlight important features of inclusive growth analysis under different country contexts.
