IFC EdInvest Program and World Bank Institute Corporate Social Resposnibility Program invite you to hear Professor Serap Atakan and a group of eight students from Istanbul Bilgi University make a special presentation on Youth Issues and Human Rights in Turkey.

The group is in Washington at the invitation of Mr Wolfensohn to share with the World Bank Group their experiences and findings from research they have carried out on youth issues and social responsibility in their society.  The presentation will discuss their work on human rights, gender and other forms of discrimination, the voice for youth in their society, as well as the unequal distribution of wealth as it affects youth.  Following the presentation, the students will be available to answer questions from their perspective on contentious social issues they face in Turkey as the country contemplates its accession to the European Union.

In 2001, IFC supported Bilgi University with a loan of $12 million for the modernization and construction of additional campus space, to improve library and laboratory facilities, as well as for the development and implementation of their successful on-line e-MBA program.

IFC staff should note that there will be second brown bag presentation by Bilgi University on their other work covering Corporate Social Responsibility in Turkey.   The second presentation will be on Wednesday 2nd February at 12.30pm in Room H 10 - 290.
