International Seminar On Growth Strategies for Secondary Education in Asia 
The main objectives of the seminar were: (i) to disseminate the World Bank’s newly published policy report on secondary education “Expanding Opportunities and Building Competencies for Young People: A New Agenda for Secondary Education"; and (ii) to discuss policy options and exchange promising approaches for secondary education reform. The seminar focused on critical concerns of policymakers in the regions: new trends in secondary education, balance between general and vocational education, curriculum reform, teacher preparation and professional development, use of ICT, labor market demand and competencies, and financing the provision of secondary education through public-private partnerships.

Meeting of Donor Agencies on “Success of achieving primary EFA in Africa: What are the consequences for donor support in junior and senior secondary education?”
This was a meeting among donor representatives to discuss the impact and follow up of the Education For All (EFA) initiative in Sub-Saharan Africa. The meeting was jointly organized by the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUA) and the Africa Region's Human Development Department (AFTHD-SEIA) of the World Bank.

The objective of the 2nd Regional SEIA Conference was to exchange policy information and create networks between African decision makers and donors. Specifically, the 2nd conference addressed two main challenges in junior and senior secondary:

2) Quality and relevance of what is taught and learned in African junior and senior secondary schools

The First Regional Conference on Secondary Education in Africa (SEIA)
The conference was jointly organized by the World Bank, the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), and the Academy for Educational Development (AED). This conference provided a forum for discussion, guidance, and exchange of best practices experiences both inside and outside in Africa.
