The International Conference on 60 Years of Korean Education: Achievements and
Challenges took place from Monday, June 13 – Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Jasmine Hall, 2FL, in KINTEX, Korea. The conference was hosted by the Korean Ministry of Education and HRD, organized by the Korean Educational Development Institute (KEDI) & Korea Institute of Curriculum & Evaluation (KICE), and sponsored by the OECD, World Bank, and Korean Society for the Study of Education.

The purpose of the conference was to:

  1. Identify and celebrate the achievements of Korean Education.
  2. Analyze and understand the challenges and opportunities for the development of Korean education.
  3. Formulate the policy framework of Korean education for the future.

A series of presentations of Expanding Opportunities and Building Competencies for Young People: A New Agenda for Secondary Education were given at the conference.
