WBI e-learning course: Introduction to Education Statistics and Indicators

“Introduction to Education Statistics and Indicators” is a five-week e-Learning course that sharpens participants’ knowledge and skills to become more effective and informed consumers of data. The ten modules in this course cover topics such as measurement, graphs, frequency and continuous distributions, dispersion and central tendency, statistical relationships, correlation, and commonly used education indicators.

After completing the e-Learning course, participants will be conversant with the basic statistical tools needed to understand and write evidence-based education policy documents that rely on data and statistics. This course is highly participatory and stimulates critical thinking and reflection as participants apply the skills and concepts to both the course exercises and their daily work in the education sector.

Target Audience:

  • Heads of the programs and departments in the Ministries of Education, Finance, and Planning and the national, federal and regional levels;
  • Academic, research and professional development institutions in education;
  • Program managers of non-governmental organizations involved in the development and implementation of national policies on education;
  • Staff of the World Bank, international and bilateral agencies, and the broader education development community.
