It was presented by:   Mr. Kjell Roland, Director, ECON Center for Economic Analysis, Norway. This Energy Lecture highlighted the outcomes of a "stock-taking" exercise conducted on the Nordic Power Market (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden), following over 10 years of regulatory reform and corporate restructuring activities.


little blue triengleEnergy Regulation & Investment Conference 2005 took place in Budapest, April 11-12, 2005. The Conference is organized annually by the Energy Regulators Regional Association. It is the prime international industry event of the Central European and Commonwealth of Independent States region. Ms. Katherine Sierra, World Bank Vice-President for Infrastructure, delivered the keynote speech at the 2005 Conference.


little blue triengleOn Wednesday, March 30, 2005 ESMAP Knowledge Exchange Series and EASES Presented:    "Moving Towards a Hydrogen Economy: Canadian Industry Perspective for Developed and Developing Countries."   The presentation provided an overview of Canadian R&D and demonstration initiatives in the hydrogen and fuel cell sector. It also offered a Canadian perspective on the suitability of this technology to developing nations, particularly as it relates to concerns around energy and environmental sustainability.


little blue triengle"Deploying Renewable Energy Systems - Lessons from South Asia and Latin America."This Energy Lecture took place on Monday, March 28, 2005 and was intended to compare and contrast emerging lessons of expeirience from GTZ-supported initiatives to scale-up the deployment of renewable energy systems in South Asia and Latin America.


little blue triengleEnergy Week 2005was held at the World Bank's Headquarters March 14 - 18, 2005.  The underlying theme of Energy Week was that sustainable development of energy supply and provision of energy services are prerequisites for economic development and poverty reduction. It featured presentations and discussions with leading energy development practitioners and offered networking activities to participants from governments, NGOs, consultants and World Bank Group staff.   


little blue triengleThe Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Financing and Policy Network Forumtook place on Friday, March 11, 2005 in Washington, DC. The Forum was a success due in large part to the contributions, insights, and suggestions for moving forward made by the international participants. Over 75 people from around the world participated in the Forum, including 21 participants from developing countries
