The Worldwide System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrical Equipment (IECEE) has as its overall objective the goal of one product, one test, and one or more certifications, as needed, for complete market access and market acceptance among participating countries and their certification bodies. The IECEE is an international product certification scheme operated under the conformity assessment branch of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The basis for operation of the IECEE is mutual recognition (reciprocal acceptance) by member certification bodies.
A new program, specific to photovoltaic products, components and systems began in 2003 and is called “IECEE-PV.” Products that have undergone IECEE-PV certification will be issued, among other documents, a Conformity Assessment Certificate that attests to specifiers that the product, along with its incorporated components, meets the relevant IEC product standard(s). The issued certificates are accessible online at: http://www.iecee.org/pv/PVcertificates/pvcac.htm.
Details about IECEE-PV including standards covered by this program, the participating national certification bodies and their associated testing laboratories (including contact information for each) is available at http://www.iecee.org/pv/html/pvcntris.htm.
Further information on the IECEE and its member countries is available at either http://www.iec.ch/conformity/ab_iecee.htm or http://www.iecee.org/html/AboutIECEE.htm .
