| The World Bank External Gender Consultative Group (EGCG) was established in early 1996 to advise the World Bank on the design and implementation of its gender policies, and to help strengthen dialogue on gender related issues between the Bank, its partners and interested sectors of civil society. The EGCG membership comprises national women's organizations, academia, and non-governmental organizations from around the world. Members are selected for their diverse professional backgrounds, experience with development at the national and international levels and for their long commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment. The EGCG meets periodically with senior World Bank management and staff to review progress in the implementation of the Bank's gender policies and to provide guidance on key gender and development issues. |
