On November 7 - 10, 2004, the World Bank's External Gender Consultative Group held their eighth meeting at headquarters, in conjunction with the World Bank workshop on Gender-Based Violence (November 8, 2004). During their HQ visit, EGCG members met with a number of high-level representatives of the Bank, including President James D. Wolfensohn; Managing Director Shengman Zhang; Chief Economist Francois Bourguignon; Human Resources Vicepresident Xavier Coll; and, Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network Vicepresident Danny Leipziger, to discuss a range of topics, including the implementation of the World Bank's Gender Mainstreaming strategy; the private sector development program; the upcoming World Development Report on Equity; and, gender-related staffing issues.
