Gender and economics workshop in BKK

bangkok thailand title

The workshop was organized in response to two challenges facing gender issues as identified in the World Bank’s report entitled “Gender Equality in East Asia: Progress, and the Challenges of Economic Growth and Political Change.”

The first issue is that while economic growth and market integration have contributed to rapid improvements in the situation of women in the East Asia region, there are new gender challenges that must be addressed.  The second is for stakeholders engaged in gender-related issues to acquire new skills and experiences to better address these challenges through dialogue on economic policy.
