Book Launch "International Migration of Women"
Edited by Andrew R. Morrison, Maurice Schiff and Mirja Sjöblom
It is estimated that more than 190 million people--3 percent of the world's population-- presently live outside their country of birth. Of these international migrants, close to one half are women. Despite the great number of female migrants, there has been a striking lack of gender analysis in the economic literature on international migration and development.
This volume analyzes the determinants and implications of women's migration in various parts of the world. It discusses topics such as the gendered determinants of remittances, the labor market performance of female migrants and policy options to enhance the benefit of female migration in destination and source countries.
