Objectives: This is a dynamic seminar that seeks to familiarize researchers and practitioners with the use of cross-country data and Investment Climate Assessments (ICAs) to explore the relationship between gender and growth at the micro-level.
Description: Presenters will draw on data from the MIT Poverty Lab--which has undertaken a number of randomized experiments that address gender differentials in access to credit--and from The World Bank Group’s Enterprise Survey data to explore whether gender differentials can be explained by differential returns on capital, lack of collateral, lower representation in credit registries, differential application or loan approval rates or discrimination.
