Description: In order to support ongoing efforts to mainstream gender in Bank’s operations, this training session introduced staff to a host of available data on gender-related statistics and discussed the potential of ADePT as a tool for gender analysis and for mainstreaming gender in Bank operations and Economic Sector Works (ESWs). In particular, this session: - Provided an overview of gender statistics and presentation of its different thematic and regional modules and monitoring data on gender, demonstration of how to produce their own datasets and tables, and discussion of the Bank’s additional ongoing work on gender statistics
- Presented the LIS gender employment indicators available in the Bank, including for middle-income countries, with graphs on cross-country comparisons; introduces LIS and its website and discusses its main strengths; and discusses upcoming improvements in gender data availability (more countries and years)
- Introduced staff to ADePT—a recently developed analytical tool for gender analysis—and draws on hands-on exercises to enhance their understanding and use of the tool.
Objectives: According to the Bank Operational Policy on Gender and Development (OP4.20), all CASs are required to draw on and discuss the findings of a gender assessment.
