Minimum set of gender indicators were developed by the Inter-agency and Expert Group on Gender Statistics to address key policy concerns as identified in the Beijing Platform for Action and other more recent international commitments. The minimum set of indicators is meant to provide a basis from which to promote the production and compilation of gender statistics at the national level. The list includes indicators addressing the key issues in gender equality and women’s empowerment that are common across countries and regions and is intended as a basic set, with indicators specific to regional and national contexts to be added by regional and national entities.
