Ministries of Justice

 

Justice Ministries vary by country and their mandates encompass a wide range of functions including the attorney general, solicitor general, prosecutor, public defense, legal aid, ethics, internal affairs, and even prison management. Justice Ministries may also draft new laws and reform legislation, as well as protect vulnerable groups such as children, the poor, and victims of human rights abuses. Justice Ministries often manage and provide funds for the administration and operation of courts and other justice sector activities. Although a part of the executive branch, Justice Ministries may be responsible for the policies and procedures that affect the management and administration of the national legal system.
