CDM and Gas Flaring Reduction: Significant Potential toward GHG Commitments Obtaining revenues from carbon credits through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) can help stimulate investments in flare reductions. With reference to the CDM rules and actual project examples this session provides an overview of oil and gas upstream sectors' significance to contributing to greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions and practical options for developing baseline methodologies. The session gives examples and case studies of flare reduction projects and host country capacity building efforts and provides an overview of the financing links to a carbon finance facility. The event was held on June 11, 2004 during the CarbonExpo in Cologne.
