On November 8-9, 2005, ARPEL held a Workshop on “Flaring and Venting Reductions and Gas Recovery Opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean” in Caracas, Venezuela. PDVSA was the Host Company; Chevron Corporation and RepsolYPF were the co-Sponsors, and the event was developed in Association with the World Bank’s Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership.
This ARPEL Workshop was a forum to share information and knowledge, bringing together professionals from the oil and gas industry to discuss practical experiences carried on by different companies as well as national and international policy and regulatory developments on the issue. Potential financing of gas flaring/venting reduction projects to qualify for Clean Development Mechanism will also be presented as well as innovative approaches to commercializing the recovered gas.
