Governments around the world face ongoing pressures from citizens to provide more and better public services under tight fiscal constraints. The implementation of information, monitoring and evaluation systems helps governments understand which programs to expand, redesign or eliminate. There is growing experience in creating and managing these systems to improve service delivery and results in both OECD and middle-income countries.
