The importance of migration is increasing in the analytical and operational work of The World Bank Group, and there is an increasing need to facilitate and enhance its technical and policy activities. As a result, a community of practice, also called thematic group, has been created. A thematic group is a venue for Bank staff and external participants to share experiences and information on a particular topic.
The Migration and Development Thematic Group of The World Bank is a joint effort by several networks, regions, the Development Economics department, and is coordinated by the Poverty Reduction Group. The main objectives of the new thematic group are to:

facilitate the communication on migration activities,

invite external speakers on the subject,
-
prepare operational guidelines to support country teams in addressing specific migration and remittances topics.
