Poverty Monitoring Overview Course (January 22, 2002)

The objective of the course was to familiarize World Bank staff with the issues involved in monitoring poverty trends in the context of poverty reduction strategies. It provided a brief overview of the issues involved in monitoring poverty reduction strategies, the questions to be looked at, and the tools that can be used to answer these questions. Other courses on multi-purpose household surveys, qualitative and mixed methods, and poverty measurement and analysis, planned for Spring 2002, will address some aspects of poverty monitoring in more depth (for information, contact Kinnon Scott at kscott@worldbank.org or Giovanna Prennushi at gprennushi@worldbank.org).
