In 2004 the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) initiated and commissioned through GTZ (German Technical Cooperation) a study on PRSP Monitoring in 5 selected countries (Albania, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Nicaragua and Vietnam).

This presentation will discuss the study's results in the following areas: the institutional set-up of PRSP monitoring systems, methods and indicators used, main contributors to data collection, use of information, and the role of donors. 

This presentation is rounded up by a brief overview of German bilateral assistance to national poverty reduction strategies and the main pillars of German development cooperation.
