Designing and Conducting Focus Groups in the Development Context (Beginner to Intermediate)

This one-day workshop will identify the uses of focus groups in development evaluation and examine relevant evaluation design issues. Participants learn how to design and conduct focus groups with an emphasis on how to ensure that participants are able to contribute successfully in a group interview setting. The workshop includes an overview of steps for developing a moderator's guide and approaching data analysis to ensure that a focus group project generates scientific data rather than "interesting information."
