Poverty Reduction Strategies (PRSs) provide a framework for low income countries to articulate their development priorities and to specify the policies, programs, and resources needed to meet their goals. They also serve as a framework for better coordination of development assistance among development partners and encourage donors to provide predictable, harmonized assistance that is aligned with country priorities.

This two-hour seminar brought together important leaders from a variety of different countries and development organizations to share their perspectives on the challenges of the country-based development model, as more and more countries prepare their second or third round of poverty reduction strategies. It also offered suggestions on how the implementation of the country-based model can be strengthened, particularly in the context of a growing number of aid providers and modalities and increasing debates over aid effectiveness and scaling up.
