This session will assess progress of the international community in delivering on its commitments to scale up assistance to developing countries and of partner countries in strengthening their policies and systems towards achieving the MDGs. It will also explore how the Bank is supporting the scaling up agenda with a country based approach and outline priorities moving forward.
This session will be chaired by Vera Wilhelm (Senior Economist, PRMPR).

Louise Cord (Sector Manager, PRMPR) will open the discussion with an overview of progress on the scaling up agenda and on strengthening country strategies and their implementation. She will also examine how the Bank is supporting the scaling up agenda and discuss priorities moving forward.

Janet Entwistle (Senior Operations Officer, OPCS) will assess recent country progress in strengthening results-based national development strategies with particular attention to the differences in progress between first and second generation PRS countries and the specific challenges for fragile states.
