About Natural Resource Governance
Natural resources are critical to the development of many low income countries. In 2010, an estimated 1.5 billion people lived in more than 50 resource dependent countries. The World Bank Group is strengthening its engagement to help countries meeting their growth and poverty reduction objectives. To promote broad-based and equitable development, it assists countries along the extractive industry value chain, including addressing cross-cutting issues such of governance and political-economy.
