The Public Sector Governance Group is part of the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management (PREM) Network
| | | | A fundamental role of the Bank is to help governments work better in our client countries. The Public Sector Group's objectives are based on the view that the Bank must focus more of its efforts on building efficient and accountable public sector institutions -- rather than simply providing discrete policy advice. | | | | In September 2006, a paper was presented to the Development Committee in Singapore that highlighted an increasing focus on governance and anticorruption (GAC) as a key component of the World Bank's mission to reduce poverty and promote economic growth. As a result of the guidance and issues raised by the Development committee, the World Bank Group embarked upon an extensive process of formulating a formal strategy, consulting internal and external stakeholders, and creating an implementation strategy. In October 2008, the Public Sector Governance Board will present a one-year review of the implementation strategy. | | | | | | Multi-media - Video Clips, Podcasts, Blogs, etc. | | | The Thematic Groups Administrative and Civil Service Reform, Anticorruption, Decentralization and Subnational Regional Economics, Law and Justice Institutions, Public Finance | | | The Public Sector Board Members | | | Publications Public Sector Governance and Accountability Series, Governance PREM Notes, Books, Research, etc. |
