Madagascar – Additional Financing to the Integrated Growth Poles Project

Washington, April 17, 2008 - The following projects were approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

IDA CREDIT: US$40 Million

TERMS:     Maturity= 40 years; Grace= 10 years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The objective of the additional financing is to support the project to complete originally-planned activities that have remained un-funded to date. It would also enhance the impact and development effectiveness of the project and expand coverage of basic services to the local population. In particular, it would assist the Government of Madagascar in (i) strengthening the business environment especially for the development o f Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the regions; (ii) upgrading roads, ports, urban and community infrastructure and development of clean energy resources; and (iii) enhancing project implementation and local institutions strengthening.
