World Bank Collaboration with the European Space Agency

The European Space Agency and the Bank have been collaborating since 2008 to explore the utility of satellite EO services in four Bank activities. In this framework ESA is providing pro bono support to Bank operations in disaster risk management, urban development, agriculture and forest management, water resources management, coastal zones management, marine environment, and climate change adaptation.

World Bank Collaboration with the U.S. Government on Remote Sensing and Water

In March 2011, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and World Bank President Robert Zoellick signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen U.S. Government-World Bank relations. Under this agreement, U.S. Agencies have agreed to provide remote sensing data (where possible) and the means with which to interpret and employ it to support the proper management of water resources.

JAXA

World Bank Collaboration with Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)

On April 17, 2008, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the World Bank signed an agreement for “DaichiI”, the Advanced Land Observation Satellite (ALOS) developed and operated by JAXA, to provide high resolution images of the regions of Latin America and Caribbean.
