UNITED NATIONS FOUNDATION

UN Foundation

The UN Foundation, a public charity, was created in 1998 with entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner’s historic $1 billion gift to support UN causes and activities. We are an advocate for the UN and a platform for connecting people, ideas and resources to help the United Nations solve global problems. Specific global issues we focus on include: Children’s Health, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Technology and Women and Population. We help the UN take its best work and ideas to scale—through advocacy, partnerships, constituency building and fund-raising.

NIKE FOUNDATION

Nike

Nike believes in the power of human potential to accomplish anything: on the field, on the court, in life. We’re applying that belief to poverty in the developing world, an issue that impacts everyone’s future. We sought out where we could make the greatest impact. We found it in adolescent girls. Invest in them, the theory goes, and you will unleash a powerful ripple effect. That realization began our focused investment. Four years on, we’ve found that girls are the unexpected answer. We work to get girls on the international agenda and drive resources to them. We believe the best way to do that is to prove that investment in her unleashes the girl effect.
