Indigenous Peoples in Bank Projects
Indigenous Peoples have been included in a wide variety of Bank projects across many Bank sectors and in all of the Bank's regions of operations. The links attached below should provide an overview of the nature and extent of Bank projects involving Indigenous Peoples.
Participatory Training of Indigenous Peoples in Latin America
The World Bank (Latin American and Caribbean Region) began in 1993-94 in collaboration with the Hemispheric Fund for the Development of Indigenous Peoples (Fondo Indígena) a series of training workshops for indigenous organizations to assist them in designing and managing their own development strategies. The capacity building program received support from the Bank's Institutional Development Fund (IDF) as well as from a Trust Fund of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).
