Indicators for Monitoring Inclusive MDG implementation: Expert Meeting

Location:   Maputo, Mozambique
Begins:   Mar 04, 2010
Ends:   Mar 04, 2010

The Global Partnership for Disability and Development (GPDD) organized an Expert meeting on “Indicators for Monitoring Inclusive MDG implementation” in Maputo, Mozambique on March 4th, 2010. This meeting was planned in response to a request from government officials in Mozambique for technical assistance to find new indicators to measure disability inclusion/mainstreaming, particularly in services related to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the MDGs in general.

The expert meeting brought together individuals with experience in the development of indicators, measurements, and data collection in the fields of disability and development (including representatives from Mozambique’s National Statistics Division, the World Bank, the Washington Group on Disability Statistics, and the United Nations Statistics Division), to brainstorm about possible strategies for the government in strengthening their data gathering practices and activities, discuss how current practices and efforts in MDG monitoring could be adapted for Mozambique, and serve as a knowledge resource for the Mozambican officials in developing their monitoring plans.
