Programme for the Advancement through Health and Education (PATH) Program Description
This program is designed to replace three social assistance programs and has two components. The child allowance component provides a cash transfer to eligible households with children up to 17 years of age on the condition that they attend school regularly and assist required health center visits. The second component is a social assistance grant which provides specific categories of adults (poor pregnant or lactating mothers, elderly poor (over age 65) and poor disabled and destitute adults under age 65), with a cash transfer conditional on their attendance at regular health center visits. The objective of the program is to improve human capital formation among poor households and reduce poverty in the future while at the same time providing a safety net and alleviating current poverty. Only poor households with children or eligible adults can be eligible for the program. The program is implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and its 13 parish offices at the local level. Program Profile
