Helena Ribe and Andrea Vermehren reported back on their participation in the "International Seminar on Conditional Cash Transfers in Urban Areas," which was sponsored by the Government of Colombia and designed to take stock of progress of CCT programs in urban areas, their challenges, and possible solutions.  Held September 23-26, 2008, the themes of the seminar included:

• Urbanization and its culture
• Urban poverty and family dynamics
• Models for urban CCT interventions: Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, USA, El Salvador
• Results from evaluation of urban CCTs in LAC

The conference attracted close to 60 participants from CCT programs in Latin America, USA and Bangladesh as well as local government representatives, academics, and researchers.
