The World Bank SIEF CCT cluster team organized this workshop as a close out of its activities to share knowledge amongst researchers and operational staff on the policy implications of recent evaluations of CCT programs.
The workshop had three main objectives: (i) present key results from selected recent high-quality impact evaluations, (ii) discuss the implications of those new lessons for policy (as well as their external validity) and (iii) identify gaps in existing knowledge regarding CCTs.
The conference brought a selection of high-level researchers together with operational staff and provided a platform for substantive discussion on the latest evidence on 2nd generation CCT issues. Researchers were invited to give short presentations summarizing their key results and the policy implication of their research. The conference focused on research conducted since the publication of the Policy Research Report on Conditional Cash Transfers (Fiszbein and Schady 2009), sponsored by the SIEF as well as from other sources. Ample time was given to debate and to discuss where there is a clear set of policy implications and identify key research priorities ahead.
