The workshop, hosted by the Center of Excellence in Finance (CEF), Ljubljana, Slovenia and delivered by the World Bank, provided an overview of the role and contribution of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in maintaining, upgrading and extending transport infrastructure, specifically highways, railways, airports, and ports. The main focus was defining the roles of the public and private sectors, PPP options and challenges, key success factors for PPP implementation, as well as benefits and risks of PPPs in transport infrastructure. The workshop included presentations, discussions, case studies, and demonstration of the World Bank toolkit for PPP in highways.
